True stillness dissolves the hum you didn’t even know you were carrying.

I had an experience last night in my weekly class that I’d like to share as an insight.

During the practice, I dipped into a really deep stillness, not just quieting the mind but that deeper space where everything drops away for a few minutes. What struck me afterward was that I hadn’t even realized how much background anxiety had been humming in my system until it was suddenly gone.

We often think of fight or flight as something dramatic, feeling overtly anxious, restless, or stressed. But many times it’s subtler than that: just a low-level static humming beneath the surface. We adapt to it so much that we don’t even notice it until it lifts.

And when it does, the whole nervous system feels free. The body, mind, and energy field open and soften. Even as you move back into daily life, you carry that afterglow of peace, gratitude, and quiet trust.

For me, this was such a reminder of why practices that let us fully discharge sympathetic charge (fight or flight energy) are so essential. They widen our window of tolerance, help us touch the deeper truth of who we are beneath the static, and over time shift our baseline toward that deeper stillness.

This is one of the reasons my first Sacred Integration Circle on October 18th will begin with practices to release that sympathetic charge, followed by a deep hypnosis meditation. Because so often the stress and anxiety we carry aren’t just personal, they’re also part of the collective fear and anger moving through the world right now. Having a space to release that, and to reconnect with our centeredness, is Grace.
